Chai Tea

Sharon Buckley-Wheeler, Staff Writer

Chai tea is a type of tea you can find almost anywhere from a Starbucks to a local coffee shop. It’s a type of black tea that is traditionally called masala chai which translates to spiced tea. One of the fun things about chai tea is that you can get it with caffeine, decaf or even caffeine-free. As someone who loves most types of tea, chai tea is one of my personal favorites. Traditionally, it is made by boiling black tea in milk and water then mixed with various herbs and spices such as, but not limited to, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. I generally don’t like spice teas, but chai tea is absolutely amazing. One of my favorite variations of chai tea is iced vanilla chai tea with oat milk. If you’re ever looking for a tea that reminds you of a cold autumn morning, I definitely recommend chai tea.
